As a visionary winemaker and creator of experiences, Gérard Bertrand initiated the renaissance of the Villa du Château la Sauvageonne, an iconic venue nestled in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac.

This exceptional wine estate, with its rare volcanic soils and remarkable biodiversity, embodies the perfect union between Languedoc tradition and contemporary creation.

The renovation of the Villa Sauvageonne was guided by the spirit of this exceptional wine-growing terroir, blending Languedoc tradition with a contemporary vocabulary. The reimagined atmospheres respond to the material of the surrounding landscape through light, colour, and finishes. Artistic interventions and bespoke furniture make each space in the house unique.

Les Crafties (Sète) conceived a vaulted fresco retracing the mythology of the Château la Sauvageonne, designers NM3 (Milan, Italy) collaborated on the design of furniture in red marble from Saint-Pons, and ceramicist Juliette Perroux (Sète) crafted decorated plates using the estate's soil, displayed in the kitchen — the heart of the villa — recontextualising the typical elements of the Languedoc kitchen garden.

Thanks to the work of architects Delphine Roque (Roque Architectes), Antonio Buonsante, and decorator Hugo Rossi, as well as the commitment of the Gérard Bertrand group, the project respected its original intentions: to enhance the existing qualities of a rich and varied territory composed of remarkable landscapes, artisanal excellence, and unique artistic sensibilities. The whole was achieved without nostalgia, with a vision resolutely turned towards the future.
