Clos d'Ora is a mysterious place, difficult to access, revealing the Mediterranean trilogy of the vine, the olive tree and the oak, within a preserved and protected natural environment. The land and the vines are cultivated using a mule, guided by intuition, feeling and connection with nature. This is the new paradigm that Gérard Bertrand champions for people, for nature and for the world.
A symbiosis takes place between the grape varieties and the terroirs on which they are grown. This allows the syrah (on limestone soils) to form the backbone of Clos d'Ora and fosters the encounter of the enveloping power of grenache (sublimated on marl soils), the spiced velvet touch of mourvèdre and the freshness that carignan has made its signature on clay soils.

In 1997, Gérard Bertrand had a dream, which came true in 2012 with the first vintage from the vines of Clos d'Ora, after 15 years of reflection and preparation. This exceptional place is situated precisely on a geological fault between limestone and marl soils, a unique contact zone. This transgenerational wine symbolises a link between the mineral, plant, animal and human kingdoms. It is a sanctuary dedicated to peace, love and harmony.

Who is Gérard Bertrand?

A committed winegrower and ambassador of the great terroirs of the South of France, Gérard Bertrand embodies excellence and innovation in the world of wine. Heir to a lineage of winemakers, he harvested his first grapes at Château de Villemajou and forged a unique vision, combining respect for tradition with a pursuit of modernity.

A former rugby player, he transposed onto his estates the values of performance and self-surpassing acquired on the field. A pioneer of biodynamics, he has established himself as a leader in sustainable wine, shining a light on exceptional terroirs through viticulture that respects nature and the cycles of life. Today at the helm of several emblematic estates, he works to spread the art de vivre Mediterranean lifestyle and the singularity of Languedoc wines on the international stage.
