Fitou AOC wine: the oldest appellation d'origine contrôlée in Languedoc
Less well known than the famous vineyards of the south of France such as the Pic Saint Loup AOC wines and the Corbières AOC wines, the Fitou wine is nonetheless the oldest AOC appellation in Languedoc-Roussillon
Neighbouring the Corbières massif while being closer to the Mediterranean Sea, the Fitou vineyard is subject to the region's typical wind, the Tramontane. This cold, dry and powerful wind "cleans" the sky of clouds, thus offering the vines ideal sunshine.
Part of the Héritage range bringing together the iconic wines of the Occitanie region, the An 990 Fitou cuvée is carefully produced to reveal all the characteristics of its terroir. An 990 Fitou refers to the date of the first written record of the Fitou estate.

Looking more closely at the tasting notes of this Gérard Bertrand wine, this Héritage 990 cru ranks among the finest Fitou wines.
Its beautiful garnet robe invites you to taste; its nose reveals aromas of ripe fruit, spices and blackcurrant buds. On the palate, the balance is perfect, with a velvety texture and tannins of great softness. A Fitou AOC bottle is ideally served at a temperature of 18°C.
For a successful food and wine pairing, you can accompany a glass of Fitou wine with grilled meats and more generally with full-bodied dishes based on beef or game.
