Plantabelle 2019

100 ml tasting experience
Located above the Pitrous valley, at the foot of the famous Cabrières rock formations, the plot named Plantabelle enjoys exceptional soil and climate conditions. On the heights above the village, at an altitude of 150 m, it benefits from optimal sunshine and constant natural ventilation. Set in woodland where holm oak grows alongside downy oak – a sign of a temperate Mediterranean climate – this plot is planted with old Grenache Noir (70%) and Syrah (30%) vines.
Old vines, grape varieties suited to the terroir, soils that moderate variations in rainfall, low yields, biodynamic viticulture, perfectly healthy grapes and polyphenol ripeness as the signal to begin hand harvesting are the essential factors that give this wine its distinctive character.

Tasting notes
Colour
Dark, violet-hued colour in its youth, lightening and developing brick-red tones with age
Nose
Aromas dominated by ripe fruit, garrigue and menthol
Palate
This wine is characterised by depth and elegance. It has a finish of silky tannins, lovely persistence and aromatic complexity combining black fruit, liquorice and roasted notes

Winemaking
- Hand-harvested grapes transported to the winery in small crates
- Transferred to vats after destemming
- Maceration for 7 to 10 days, depending on the vintage, to extract colour, aromas and phenolic compounds
- Aged in barrels for 12 months from the end of winter
- Released for sale after one year in bottle
