With Héritage 462 – Languedoc, Gérard Bertrand reveals the history of the great terroirs of southern France. The year 462 marks the beginning of the Visigoths’ prosperous rule in Languedoc. The house’s emblem, the cross with doves, was inspired by the remains of their palace and symbolises sharing and brotherhood.

Héritage 462 – Languedoc is made from Syrah and Grenache, harvested by hand and vinified separately to achieve optimal ripeness for each variety. Winemaking methods are adapted to the characteristics of each variety and the potential of its terroir. Some of the Syrah is vinified in whole bunches, with a maceration period of around 15 days, while the Grenache is destemmed and macerated for nearly 3 weeks. Extraction is managed to achieve a silky, dense tannic structure supported by fine aromatic intensity. Some of the wine is then aged in 225-litre Bordeaux barrels for around 10 months, having been transferred to barrel immediately after pressing.

Winemaking
