Wine description
- The village of Tautavel is ideally situated in the Roussillon between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. The Tautavel region is rich in history and is one of the cradles of Humanity.
- The vineyard extends over 20 ha of stony soils, on very calcareous terraces and hillsides exposed to the south-east. The climate is regulated by the Tramontane wind, which promotes the ripening of the grapes.
- It is considered the quintessence of the Tautavel terroir.
- It received a score of 92–94/100 from the Wine Advocate
- It received a score of 14.5/20 from the Guide Bettane + Desseauve
- It is ranked in the Top 100 UK Languedoc-Roussillon

Best enjoyed at 14–16°C with
roasted or grilled red meats, stews,
blue-veined cheeses, and camembert.
Winemaking and ageing
From a selection of the finest plots on the Tautavel terroir, the grapes are harvested by hand when optimal ripeness is reached. They come exclusively from old Grenache Noir vines with low yields. A traditional vinification is carried out in cement vats, with a long maceration of three weeks at a temperature not exceeding 27°C. The maceration is carried out gently for better preservation of the fruit and aromas. The wine is aged for 12 months in barrels.
Tasting note
Beautiful deep garnet red colour. Complex and
powerful nose, with notes of garrigue, spices and ripe
fruit. On the palate, the grenache noir, vinified at low
temperature and aged in new barrels for twelve
months, perfectly expresses the freshness of the black
fruits. On the finish, spiced, liquorice and
toasted notes brighten and add complexity to the wine.
