Wine description
Château des Karantes is an exceptional vineyard situated at the heart of a small valley, surrounded by the rocky cliffs of the Clape massif, classified as a nature park. The name "Karantes" was inherited from the first owner, a former bishop of Carcassonne. The estate overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and offers a remarkable panoramic view over the coastline and the hinterland of garrigue and pine forests. The climatic conditions are exceptional, both in terms of sunshine duration, the heat stored during the day by the limestone and released at night to the grapes, and the effect of the Mediterranean Sea, which tempers the summer temperatures. The vineyard is cultivated biodynamically.

Best served at 11°C. Serve with pan-fried scallops, fish in sauce, or as an aperitif.
Winemaking and ageing
The Grand Vin is sourced from the finest plots of the estate. The harvest date is triggered, variety by variety, when the grapes reach optimal ripeness as determined by daily berry tastings. The harvest is done by hand, and the berries are pressed upon arrival at the winery. Great care is taken over the delicacy of the pressing, and each press juice is tasted before being selected for inclusion in the Grand Vin blend. After a light static settling, alcoholic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels. Temperature control preserves the freshness and integrity of the aromas. Barrel ageing lasts between 7 and 8 months until the spring equinox, with regular lees stirring for two months.

The colour is pale gold. Château des Karantes Grand
Vin Blanc is of great elegance and very
aromatic. It reveals on the nose fruity aromas as well
as notes of citrus, white-fleshed fruits and
toasted hazelnuts. On the palate, one discovers great
finesse and a beautiful minerality extracted from the
limestone soils on which the vines are planted.

Standard delivery is free in France from €125 and in other countries from €300 worth of orders.
