Wine description
- The 2017 vintage was named Best Red Wine in the World with 97 points at the International Wine Challenge 2019
- Recognised by numerous critics the world over, Gérard Bertrand reveals the Château l'Hospitalet Grand Vin rouge as one of the flagships of French viticulture.
- Since the 2017 vintage, the estate has been certified AB ( organic wine ) and DEMETER ( Biodynamic farming) .
- As part of a presidential visit to China in November 2019, Château l'Hospitalet was chosen to represent the excellence of French wines alongside Cheval Blanc and Corton Charlemagne.
- A 1,000-hectare estate, 82 of which are planted with vines, within a protected and magnificent natural park
- The Grands Vins are sourced from a selection of the estate's finest plots

harmonious wine with an elegant structure
can be enjoyed now and promises a most
exciting future.
Winemaking and ageing
The harvest is done by hand and each grape variety is vinified separately. A portion of the Syrah is vinified as whole bunches. The maceration period is around 20 to 25 days. At the end of winter, 100% of the wine is transferred into new 225-litre barrels (French oak) for a period of 12 to 16 months in the magnificent cellars of l'Hospitalet (2,000 barrels). The finest barrels from each grape variety are selected and blended to craft this cuvée.
Tasting note
The colour is a brilliant ruby. The nose, intense, is
dominated by aromas of spice and red fruits
(strawberry). The palate presents silky, fine
tannins that highlight the fresh fruitiness of
this wine.
